How One Tear Changed a Man’s Life Forever (S.T.S.)

Mike Spohr’s daughter, Maddie, was born 12 weeks premature and was not in good health.  Complication after complication made life very stressful for Mike and his wife as each night they tried to sleep worrying the phone would ring, bringing them terrible news.

Maddie fought hard and was a special little angel on this planet. Her crystal clear blue eyes and shimmering smile were things that all the nurses loved about her. Ultimately, on April 7, 2009 Maddie went back to be with God. Her struggles and pain were now over.

Mike’s life had been shattered, turned upside down, and he had no idea what to do. At this moment the only thing that could make everything any less painful was knowing that the people around them cared about the life that had just been lost. Read below how a single tear changed Mike’s life forever.

Anyone who has been in a hospital, been sick, or had to deal with the illness/injury of a loved one knows how incredible and important nurses and doctors are. Finding a staff that genuinely cares about the patient they are treating means the world to the frantic, stressed, and worried family and friends of the person being treated.

Ultimately though the nurses are the ones who spend the majority of their time with the patient and the ones who develop the real connection. I can’t thank the nurses enough that I have dealt with in my life and I have said it before but it takes a special kind of person to be a nurse. I honestly think they do not get enough credit for what they do. They work long hours, they are the soldiers on the ground, the marines of the medical world, making sure that patients are comfortable and doing everything in their power to keep them healthy.

This post goes out to all the nurses working to save lives everyday. We truly appreciate and value you all, don’t ever let someone demean what you do because it is one of the most important jobs out there. Thank you from the bottom of my heart, keep on doing what you do because you inspire millions of people everyday!
