Arnold is acclaimed for having achieved much more than any ever thought would be possible for him. He became a celebrity through his body-building career, then an actor, and now the affectionately named Governator. In this speech he shares his secrets to success. 6 simple rules that he has chosen to live his life by.
These six simple rules could be the difference maker in your life. If you committed to most of or all of these rules, you will find amazingly positive changes constantly occurring in your life.
1. Trust yourself
Deep down, you know what you want, you know what will help you get there and all it takes is the courage to listen to the voice of truth deep inside of you. Consciously listen to the voice that believes in possibility, the voice that pushes you to be better, and the voice that encourages you to help those around you.
2. Break the Rules
In the speech Arnold very clearly states, “Break the rules, not the law.” Arnold could not be more dead on with this statement, “We have so many rules,” then he goes on to describe how he would never have found half the success he has without breaking some of the rules. Most of these rules are self-imposed, preconceived notions that we have about what is and what has to be. Don’t ever accept that life must be anything less than incredible!
3. Don’t Be Afraid to Fail
The only way we learn is by trying something and making mistakes. As he says in his speech if you try and then give up, then it is a failure. Otherwise, it is a learning opportunity and something that just brought you one step closer to success.
4. Don’t Listen to the Naysayers
People always want to tell you what you can’t do based on their own perceptions of what is possible and what is not, don’t listen to any voice except the voice inside that tells you that you can make all your dreams come true. Let God guide your steps and listen to that positive voice in your head.
5. Work Your Butt Off
The more I research success, the more I hear extremely successful individuals confirming that nothing was ever achieved without hard work. Lives aren’t changed by accident, as Will Smith says, “whether you realize it or not, success if very intentional and deliberate.” If you have a dream, don’t be afraid to push yourself to see all the things your are capable of achieving.
6. Give Back
You will never find more joy, more fulfillment, or a better feeling than when you conscientiously make the effort to make a difference in someone else’s life. The most valuable thing you have to give is your time Take some time today and schedule a day to give back, I promise you won’t regret it.
