How Penn State Students are Fighting Pediatric Cancer (S.T.S.)

Every year, Penn State students come together to raise money in the fight against pediatric cancer. Last year alone they raised over $12 million dollars in one year to benefit the families supported by the 4 Diamonds Fund!

The fundraising season culminates in February with “THON Weekend” (shortened from the original Penn State Dance MaraTHON), a 46 hour no sitting, no sleeping, dance marathon for the students to show their commitment to the cause. The families being supported by the fund also get to come with their children to enjoy a weekend designed to help the children feel like, “they are no different from any other little kid.”

At a time in most people’s lives when they are solely focused on partying and sports, these students dedicate time collecting money on street corners, through hand written letters, and in a number of other ways. 15,000 student volunteers come together to make this all happen and the most wonderful thing about the event is it is entirely run by Penn State students.
